Cheap Fingertip Pulse Oximeter Teardown

This is a teardown of a cheap Fingertip Pulse Oximeter available on AliExpress for about US$20 delivered.
A pulse oximeter measures your pulse rate in BPM, and also estimates your blood oxygenation (SpO2) as a percentage.

This is what the unit looks like (yes my pulse is a bit high...)

The front of the PCB with OLED unstuck and folded back to show traces underneath.
Also shows the 9-way FET (JTAG/ICSP) header.

The rear of the PCB - showing MSP430, photodiode, and speaker.
A 4 way flex cable goes from the pads at left to the battery compartment PCB, which also contains the emitter LED.
